Summary
Taken from page 347 of Stephen Ward (2020). "Rothwell & District: Pictures & Memories from the Past". Leeds: Stephen Ward Photography and Publishing. The image is captioned "This is St Andrew's Methodist[*] church in Stourton taken around 1910. It was located on Robins Lane[#] and dates from 1901. Built in a gothic style at the cost of £6,400. Nothing now remains of the church which was demolished many years ago". *The church in Stourton called St Andrews was a CofE church (https://facultyonline.churchofengland.org/CHR/ChurchDetails.aspx?id=19838). The Stourton Wesleyan Methodist Church was on Wakefield Road. #A later photograph - undated but with cars present - in Bulmer and Brown's Around Rothwell (2003, Volume I, p.39) shows this building but lists it as St. Andrews on Pontefract Road.
Work of unknown authorship - 70 years from the end of the year in which it was made.
